When my daughter and I were on our morning walk, we stopped under a tree for some water. I looked down and was surprised to see so many acorns! Perhaps some happy animals will come along later and eat these.
After walking under trees in a mini-forest together, we arrived at a residential intersection and wanted to cross towards home. I saw a car coming so I stopped to wait. The driver stopped, too, and gestured enthusiastically for us to cross.
I was surprised to see that the driver was insisting and, since it was safe, I signalled a “thank you” twice and pushed the stroller across the street. Once safely on the sidewalk, I looked back and saw the car as it drove past, noticing only the car make and model.
I thought, I don’t know who this person is or what they look like. I wouldn’t know how to find them to thank them again.
It made me think about the kindness of strangers, how we send acts of kindness out into the world, and we might not hear back. But these acts, this kindness, make the world a better place.
They add up, like stars in the sky [lighting someone’s way], or snowflakes on the ground, or notes in a song, or even acorns under a tree, nourishing the world and making it a more beautiful, wonderful place to live 💜
